Fernando Botero
L’arte di Fernando Botero nasce dal connubio tra antichità italiana e autenticità colombiana. Botero è un colombiano che ha assimilato la grande pittura italiana, quella solida, precisa, ben architettata, alla ricerca di una forma perfetta.
La “rotondità” delle sue figure è proprio l’aderenza ad una misura ideale (la sfera) che del resto connota la scultura, che noi definiamo classica. Tutto il resto – cioè il gusto del grottesco, l’ironia, la “verve” popolaresca, le deformazioni – nasce da quella che Botero chiama “revolución permanente” dell’arte: che significa il suo uscire dai binari del conformismo, il suo essere aderente alle pulsioni dell’uomo, del suo DNA, dei suoi cromosomi.
